Imants ma ponad 40-letnie doświadczenie w sektorze zasobów i technologii zarówno w sektorze publicznym, jak i prywatnym.

The majority of this time has been in the private sector as an active executive and non-executive director/chairman of ASX-listed companies, unlisted companies, and not-for-profit organisations. Non-Executive Directorships include Atlas Iron, Xantippe Resources and not-for-profits Australians For Northern Development & Economic Vision (ANDEV) and Aroga Network.

Imants holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Western Australia and Masters of Arts In Futures Studies from the Curtin University of Technology.
